Né en 1980, Laurent Pernot vit et travaille "à cheval" entre Lille et Paris. Après son diplôme de la prestigieuse école du Fresnoy, Studio national des arts contemporains (Tourcoing), Laurent Pernot sillonne le monde avec une série d'expositions qui le conduiront en Chine pour la Biennale de Wuyishan, à la Fondation Miró de Barcelone, à l'Intercross Creative Center de Sapporo, au Japon, aussi bien qu'en Finlande, Grande-Bretagne, Allemagne, Slovénie, Suisse, Inde… Sa maîtrise poétique de l'espace et du sujet ne se manifeste pas que dans l'image fixe mais aussi dans la vidéo. Sa démarche repose sur l'exploration des ambiguïtés profondes de l'existence et a toujours été influencée par les glissements possibles entre notions scientifiques et philosophiques, en particulier celles qui traitent de la conscience humaine et des particularités de la vie. Born in 1980, Laurent Pernot lives and works in Lille and Paris. Graduated from Le Fresnoy, National studio of contemporary arts (Tourcoing, France), Laurent Pernot travels round the world with a series of exhibitions which will lead him in China for the Biennial of Wuyishan, at the Miró Foundation of Barcelona, at the Intercross Creative Center of Sapporo, in Japan, as well as in Finland, Great Britain, Germany, Slovenia, Switzerland, India… Its poetic control of space and of the subject doesn't appear only in the fixed image but also in the video. The artist's approach rests on the exploration of major ambiguities of the existence and was always influenced by the possible slips between scientific and philosophical concepts, in particular those which treat human conscience and characteristics of the life.
