JENNIFER ALLEYN est la fille d'Edmund Alleyn. Après des études en cinéma à l'Université Concordia, elle fait le tour du monde, seule, caméra au poing avec La Course Destination monde (1992). À son retour, elle est journaliste au quotidien Le Devoir (prix Mireille Lanctôt, 1994) et collabore au Point (SRC). Elle revient au cinéma de fiction, en réalisant un des segments du long métrage Cosmos, primé à Cannes en 1997. En 2002, son portrait documentaire Les Rossy marque le début d'une collaboration avec le monteur Stéphane Lafleur, qui se poursuit avec La vie imaginée de Jacques Monory, second volet d'une trilogie de films sur l'art, entreprise avec Imaginer le rien (FIFA 2002). Parallèlement à son cinéma d'auteur, elle réalise en 2005, sa première série pour la télévision: Canadian Casefiles, diffusée à Global.Jennifer Alleyn is the daughter of Edmund Alleyn. After her studies in Film Studies at Concordia University, she left with her camera, for a trip around the world. At that time she took part in the T.V. show La Course Destination monde in 1992. When she came back, she worked as a journalist for Le Devoir (award Mireille Lanctôt, 1994) and collaborated fot the T.V. show Le Point (SRC). After working as a journalist, she decided to go back to film making. She directed a part of Cosmos, a winner at the Cannes film festival in 1997. In 2002 her documentary Les Rossy marks the beginning of her collaboration with her editor Stéphane Lafleur. They worked together in the second part of her trilogy called La vie imaginée de Jacques Monory. That series on film on art was a initiative of Imaginer le rien (FIFA 2002).At the same time, she is directing her first television series: Canadian Casefiles, shown on Global (2005).
