Featuring

Luc Courchesne, David Ferron, Frédéric Lavoie and Caroline St-Laurent are Vithèque’s new Top Choices for February. To mark the occasion, the complete films of these artists – available on Vithèque – can be viewed free of charge until March 15, 2012. To start off, we suggest Luc Courchesne’s short art video Paula, which has been described as a portrait in the style of a Renaissance painting, when painters abandoned their religious themes and turned towards the human subject.

Next, we invite you on a troubling journey inside the brain of a mad scientist with David Ferron’s experimental film Matière grise (winner of the Best Experimental Film award at the Canadian Student Film Festival in 2006).

To highlight the presence of Frédéric Lavoie at the event Art souterrain, we invite you to (re)discover his art video Deux-Pièces, a series of apparitions, surprises and deceptions tied to the objects around us.

A text devoted to Frédéric Lavoie by our colleagues at Panorama-Cinéma is included in this issue. [Read the text]

To conclude, take a look at Caresse, the first video by Caroline St-Laurent picked up for distribution by Vidéographe (note that St-Laurent’s Papillon/Bacon will be screened at the Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois on February 25 at 4:00 p.m.).
